D(damon) construction management

looks like that task master damon is making sure that things are going to plan. if you ask me or any other one of the eight he should head on over to heathfield lane and start putting some butts in gear to get some projects done. here he is taking after old man dyer and collecting every little scrap of wood to make sure that it will be put to some use, whether as a door stop or as a contribution to keep the family warm during the winter months. each time that i have conversed with deadline deamon he has talked about the "job site." now i know where he spends most of his time.

mollys photo captions:
Some of you may have already heard from Damon, but this is the cherished Boom Lift that he got to go "Higher and Higher" on.
let the building begin.
Adrian is thinking, "Yes young Damon, collect all the scrap wood and one day you too will have enough to build a home. Yes... excellent!

not a tract home

Yeah, it’s true. The Hunsakers are finally building a home of their own. Adrian, Jean, Jon, and Cheryl will be happy to have the room over their garages back. We are almost done. Here are some pictures.
We will be Turner-Tuffies as Luke once called the Turner residents. Brittani has named our home "The Turner Turd." Smell was not the reason, but her name was created from the various shades of brown we picked for the interior and exterior colors.
Here is a link to see our floor plan. We made some changes, so it isn't exact, but you'll get the idea.

No, these are not from Dad's personal residential photo collection.

I'm going to do my best to be as good with words as austin, but no promises.
The house on heathfield is the only house i've ever known until recently. I was the first baby on heathfield, so it was probably me who produced the first crayon marks all over the walls that had to be painted over -- and i know it was me who stained mom and dad's bathroom carpet with make up - well me with the help of michaela hawks.
I would go on to brag about the crib i have in eastern idaho, but it's not really mine. I'm still under the college freshman clause that states: "father will pay for apartment for sad pathetic poor child".
(okay. so you dont have to post it because it's really lame.. i can send you pictures of my apartment if you want though)

ah yes.. some of my fondest memories.. the house! (the unfinished house that is!! -many the time Ive bemoaned that fact) I remember living in the trailer while it was being built,,, and one day I sent Austin down to tell Dad dinner was ready and Austin came back with big puffy eyes like he'd been crying..or beaten up. Turns out it wasnt either --he had walked through the tall grass and was obviously allergic to it!. One scorching hot August day Dad oured the footings.. didnt matter that he was the only man there to do it... so we all pitched in.. shoveling concrete that was going hard almost as soon as it came down the chute of the truck.. moving it in wheelbarrows as fast as our puny arms could lift it.. even the concrete truck guy took pity on us and decided to help out! My fondest memory though is.. no.. not the holes/excavations.. that moved form the front to the back and to the front again but the igloo building out of wood blocks in the basement.. you all know what i'm talking about! typical Dyer family stuff.. creative use of mundane objects that we've already moved 3 times and have no real use for anyway! need i say more?! but.. you gotta love it..( and as any of you who have a mortgage know...its home!!!

Well, now that i have high-speed internet, i can send pics, email, etc no problem... the house. No one ever seemed to be able to walk up or down a flight of stairs to tell someone they had a phone call. It was always yelling...and how many phones were there. Let'd see. one in mom & dad's room, one by the computer, one in the kitchen, one in dad's office... And the little girls can't hardly appreciate the striped, unpadded, industrial carpet. It hid the dirt, the cat whiz, the dog throw up and the droppings from the kitchen that ended up outside the kitchen... and they especially can't remember the car port, and the gray deck that accompanied it until we had to cover the gigantic concrete hole outside the kitchen doors. Alas, there is now a real garage. Now if we could only see about some door openers. or not. That's about it.

I'm glad that "Heathfield Lane" was created. I love seeing the pictures of little Ethan and Makenzie.

casa de smith's cumplido

if anyone can not figure out what the title says then ring up rachel and get her digging through the ol spanish/english dictionary.it is done. granted it is not the size of The 20 Year Dig @ Heathfield. Yeah i might razz dad here on this blog about the house and it not being done but here are some things that i want to point out.
  • this blog is for fun.
  • if something offends you, i will be more than happy to take it off. email me and let me know. austindyer@gmail.com
  • heathfield lane was where all of our memories come from.
  • if you want to look at the bad ones then fine but i am going to try and enjoy and have fun with what we grew up doing, playing, riding in, and so on. yeah we did not have a lot growing up but look at yourself now. where you have come from to where you are at now. granted we still have two at home who are at the bottom of the road waiting for the short bus to come and pick them up, but overall we are all doing great and should not complain.
a few highlights that i am sure will be added upon by april.
the garage is huge. 4 civics big and probably a suburban tall. the unfinished laundry room and extra bedroom is about 85% done. it is not like moving in and having 95% dirt floor in the basement. the 5% was the black plastic.
the pictures might not show it but all of the walls are not painted white. they are a cream color, sorry if i get the hue wrong or the description but i am open to send this to the editor.
nice carpet. not the cheap stuff that has been warming our feet as we grew up on heathfield. april pulled no punches when she went for the stainmaster 4005. once we found this out, ethan quickly pinched one off and wanted a diaper changed. i think that he was trying to get a little on the newly laid carpet but cherisse had her catchers glove on and defended the carpet well. nice padding underneath too.
unlike molly who is going to have the option to pick out everything in her custom home, when you have a tract home like this one and ours you only get options to pick out a few things. the smiths had many options to pick out including the shudders, flooring, bannisters/railings, tile. dyers in cali only had the flooring, and the dyers in oregon were limited by cha-ching, so what you see is what you got.
vaulted ceiling in the kitchen, living room. upgraded fixtures and i am sure i have passed over many things. rocker swithces. bumped (derived from a jean word meaning to move a wall in a direction to add space or character to a house) out the back of the garage to make it bigger.
these pictures were taken pre move in of course, sunday night. nice looking neighborhood. they must be like the 4th or 5th ones that have moved in on their street, many of the other houses are in some stage of completion. they moved in monday and tuesday and so things look a little different now.

nice job.
