newport temple and crystal cove

we took a trip out to orange county last weekend. just getting the kids out of the house and makenzie had been talking about going to the beach. she asked my a bunch of times if we could go to the beach in the middle of the week and i promised that we would go on the weekend. saturday came and went and with early church it made it possible to go out there after lunch.
we stopped by the newport beach temple and then went over to crystal cove. it is a state park just south of newport beach and north of laguna on PCH. here are some pictures of the kids and what we saw. the beach had a long windy path to get down to the beach. it was windy and cooler than we had liked it to be, or the kids wanted it to be. they had fun just being able to run around and see the few dogs that were down on the beach. they enjoyed getting out to hear the sound of the ocean, play in the sand, and ethan's daring the waves to get him wet. he would run out toward the water when it receded, when it came back in he would scamper back in. i think part of this was to test me to see how fast i could get to him. always pushing the limits. makenzie found a spot to jump from the top of a little burm. lots of sand in the shoes.
we stopped by the ferrari dealership on the way home and the only comments i got were from makenzie who said that the cars were all red. she was impressed that there was a horse on the badge. she also noticed that on the grill of the maserati's the crown symbol. not that i expected ethan to begin talking at that very moment or come alive with the sight of the red enzo behind the glass doors.
