taking candy from the neighbors

So last night, Halloween we set out to make the most of this annual event. when i got back from work I took the kids out around the neighborhood to ring door bells and pan handle for some goodies. makenzie already knew the routine so she was chomping at the bit to get out there and blown down the street like a witch on a nimbus 2000. ethan had to be coaxed down the street and i eventually carried him
to the first couple of doors.the first door cracked me up because makenzie stood there after receiving her sweet treat as if she were part of some union and was not going to go until she got just one more. as we went to the next house ethan could tell the the plastic pumpkin that her sister was hoisting down the street had a new ring to it. he quickly wanted to get down and check it out. i let him hold his pumpkin at the second door but had to quickly retrieve it before he sunk any one of his three teeth into the bounty he took.
in one of these pictures you can see ethan and makenzie standing at a door. makenzie being the older wiser sister of the halloween tradition it was a learning opportunity for her to teach ethan that we wait until we get back to the house to crack any of these goodies open. as we got up to the door, the moment before was ethan following his sister like a hawk. kenzie now trapped at the door and ethan goes up to try and take some of makenzies candy.
makenzie told him to go and pound sand and moved the jack-o-lantern out of reach. he did not want to be in the outfit let alone be told that he could not have a treat for walking down this street and knocking on doors. at some point he managed to sneak an orange sucker away from his sister. i though that the clear wrapper would be too much for his tres tooths but eventually his sweet tooth prevailed and he got it into his mouth. then he was happy and he followed his sister around to each stop.
the fun came to an abrupt end when i realize that he has orange hands, orange cheeks, and was starting to get the chicken costume to match his legs in color. then we headed back to the house where chicken little went down for the first nap of the day and did not wake up until about 8:30 at the ward party.
