toshiba tech

for all of the driving around that we do we have a portable dvd player. our first one bit the dust with the help of the two biggest clients of the first Magnovox dvd player. a couple of drops, opening the cover in the middle of a dvd, as well as countless other actions that led to the demise of our 1st. we then went out and got another one to help the youngsters pass the time from point a to b, not to mention help dad remember words to a movie before he ever gets to match it up with a moving picture. i had most of "Meet the Robinson's" memorized before i even got to see any of the characters. no more holding it on laps, hands off and securing it were some of the rules for the newest member of our road trips. about a month ago senior Toshiba decided that he would rather tell us that there was no DVD in the player, than play our favorite Disney movie. with Costco's new 90 return policy, that was not an option so cherisse jumped on the phone to the ever so helpful people at Toshiba. they informed us that for $115 we could send in their $120 piece of work and then they would charge us for any parts that were needed to fix it. after 6 to 8 weeks we would be up and running with our dvd player. in lew of sending then the old one we could go out and buy another for the same price. thanks for Toshiba, and now we will try and steer clear of any more of their products.
as our next trip gets closer and closer each day, this past weekend i decided that i was going to grab some screw drivers and pry that little sucker open and see if i could figure out what was wrong with it, maybe even fix it. it was not working and so either way i could not do more damage to it. as i opened it up and found a small plastic piece that had fallen off somewhere within the inner workings. eventually i got it up and running. my luck that the thing will crap out on our trip at some point.
