Solana Beach

On Saturday before Easter Sunday it was 95 degrees, so we thought we would get outside and enjoy why we live in California....for the sunshine. We drove out by Lake Hodges and Rancho Santa Fe and it was so pretty with all the hill sides green and flowers everywhere (thanks jake). We went to Solana Beach and it was beautiful. The kids enjoyed being outside in the sun playing in the sand and salt water. They loved collecting the rocks and playing with daddy.

when we first got there the kids wanted nothing to do with the cooler water. they would run as the waves washed up on the shore. at some point ethan wanted to go out and get in the water. i thought that knee deep for him would quench his fix but that was not the case. i would try to walk him back to the beach and he would point out toward the waves. so we would go out a few more steps, he loves the waves crashing into him. we went out until they were up to his neck, i was holding his hand. makenzie made some friends at the beach and played with them until they left and then joined us in getting cold. i was surprised that ethan was not even fazed by the cold water. there was a playground there at the entrance/parking lot and so we could not leave without the kids playing for about 20 minutes. getting back to the car makenzie was all and ready to strip down and change her clothes. we had to have a little talk with her about being naked in public. ethan on the other hand loves to be "free" around the house.
