911

Sunday morning Kenzie woke up having a really hard time breathing, so I gave her one of Ethan's breathing treatments and that seemed to settle it down. Then at about 4:15 she woke back up not being about to breathe and it sounded like she was gasping for breath every time. I asked her if she could breathe and she shook her head no. And of course she wanted her Daddy.
So daddy came in and....took her and gave her another one of Ethan's breathing treatments while I called the advice nurse. The advice nurse wanted to listen to her breathing so I held the phone up to her and then after she heard her breathe twice she told me to hang up and call 911 and that she would call me back in 5 minutes to make sure that paramedics were on their way.
So I called 911 and 5 minutes later 7 cop cars, 1 fire truck and ambulance showed up. Kenzie could hear the sirens and said, "daddy those are for me." So they came in and checked her out and the paramedic said that he needed to take her to the emergency room. She was very good the whole time. They took her and put her on the bed and strolled her into the ambulance. Daddy went with her and rode in the front.
After they got to the hospital I met them down their with Ethan. The doctor gave her some steroids, and a breathing treatment and then took her down for x-rays. A nurse gave her a teddy bear to keep and she held it the whole time. After we were there for a few hours the doctor came back and said that there was nothing blocking her airway and her chest and lungs looked fine. He didn't know what was wrong and why it happened.
Kenzie about 2 hours into it wanted to go home and wanted me to keep asking the nurse if we could go home. Then Austin bribed her with a pink sprinkled donut and then she was fine. The doctor checked her again and said she was fine to go home and that if it acted up again to bring her back.
So needless to say Daddy and Kenzie stopped and got her a donut with sprinkles on it with some strawberry milk.
She was such a tough little girl and did great and did everything they asked her to do with out complaining!!!
There is the story of Kenzie’s first ambulance experience that I prefer not to repeat. Ethan had a great time and got a sticker for the policeman and had a blast watching all the lights go round and round.
