seen and heard

i dropped ethan off at preschool the other morning and stayed while they got to meet a police officer and see his car. while all of the kids were sitting and listening to him ask them questions, ethan blurts out, "oh yeah my dad is a fire fighter!" a mom leans over and says oh that is great. i start laughing. the teacher looks around the corner at me with a puzzled look on her face. i explain that i am not a fire fighter, and have only started a few fires that he has seen.

i chased ethan down stairs while trying to put them to bed. i left makenzie and tessa upstairs. when i finally went back upstairs makenzie and tessa were both in makenzie's sleeping bag in the fort that was built the night before in our bedroom. makenzie looking out for her little sister.

while ethan was getting on his pjs.
ethan - "i need to find my cape for my superman pjs."
"it is right there."
"you need to put on your underwear and then we can put those on."
"superman does not wear underwear."
"yeah i think that he does and i think that he always wears (looking down to see the ones he was going to be wearing) these blue wolf undies."
"i don't like wolves, because wolves go aaawhooooooo (my best wolf howl)."
me either because they go "huff and puff and blow your house down"

makenzie looking at the flowers on the table the other day said.
"hey dad see that pol-any on that flower, that is what the bees put on their legs."

sitting down while makenzie and ethan were doing their "homework" i wrote out all of the letters and numbers, trying to make then correctly and not cross over or under the lines. i asked them where they thought that i learned to write them. makenzie, "uhh, in high school."

after realizing that there were a bunch of toys that the kids were not playing with in the toy room, i moved some into the bathroom that is not being used and locked the door. the day after st. patricks day ethan tells me, "hey dad that little green guy came to our house and locked up our toys in the bathroom."

not even remotely to do with my kids but i heard this report from the bbc that talked about the benefits of "heavy" gardening can lead to improved health. next up extreme gardening and the x-games of gardening.

Kids just say the funniest things. I think we have kids to help keep us laughin' so we don't lose our sense of humor and become old farts!
