things that i have passed down to the young-ins

footwear
i do know for a fact that i have passed along a love for footwear. i only know this because makenzie has an array of shoes in her closet, some of which we have purchased and many of which we have been beneficiaries of older cousins. she knows that she has some Adidas running shoes and some nike court shoes. also in the mix a pair of red vans old skool that i am counting down the days until she is able to put her 10 toes into.
ethan and makenzie do have the same size shoe, give or take a half size. the only reason is because Ethan's foot is so thick. Ethan's first pair are some black Adidas originals gazelle's. ethan like i would think most kids would be, at first did not like the fact that he had something on his feet.
some artistic skills
not that i have many of those skills to be handing out but yes some. makenzie has found that ball point pens on walls make for some good interpretative art work. just yesterday she did some smaller work in the bathroom.
love for food
recently in a trip to Costco with the two kids we went around picking up what we needed and found ourselves trying the samples. they had some juice, bagel bites, a cookie, chips and artichoke dip, cranberry apple stuffing, turkey bacon, and some caramelized onion with feta cheese appetizer. ethan liked the stuffing, makenzie did not, makenzie liked the turkey bacon and ethan passed. makenzie liked the cookie and ethan just wanted something in his hand. with the cookie in hand we made another pass at the caramelized onion tray for myself. i picked up two one for me and one for the kids, well ethan promptly gave me his cookie and picked up the appetizer. there are some foods like grapes that he will just plop into his mouth one at a time, but with this knowing that it was more than just a regular sample he ate it bit by bit. makenzie would not give up a cookie for a Jackson. ethan scarfed down three total and nibbled on the cookie. funny.
